Vol. 30 No. 2 (2025)
We are very pleased to publish the second issue of the thirtieth volume of the Coventry Law Journal, marking thirty years since its first publication in 1996. Devised to encourage Law School staff to begin their academic writing careers, the Journal soon attracted contributions from academics, students and practitioners in the United Kingdom and overseas, and, while specialising in public law and human rights, has published articles, legal essays, recent developments, case notes and book reviews across all areas of law. This issue continues that tradition, with pieces on employment status and the gig economy, harassment and freedom of expression, equality and diversity, prisoners' rights, the right to protest and European Union law. We are particularly pleased to include work by a former student and a current undergraduate, a research article by Dr Rona Epstein on contempt of court sanctions, and an essay on law and Shakespeare from a student at the University of Maastricht. The issue is dedicated to Tracey Reeves, who has retired after more than twenty years teaching on our LLB programmes, latterly as Assistant Professor in Law. A specialist in employment and equality law, a treasured colleague and a favourite with students, Tracey led the Law School's work on student satisfaction and contributed several pieces to this Journal; we wish her every happiness in her retirement and will miss her dedication, attention to detail and humanity. We hope you enjoy the issue, and we welcome contributions from students, academic staff and practitioners for the next, due in August 2026, for which we are especially interested in work on the rule of law and international law; the deadline for submissions is the end of June 2026.
