About the Journal

Focus and Scope

This open access journal provides a blind peer-reviewed international applied psychological forum for the dissemination of research findings and the development of practice and policy as they apply to real world issues and/or psychological practice.

The journal philosophy is to promote the timely publication of rigorous, good-quality scientific research regardless of whether the findings reported are null. The emphasis is on research quality and the relevance of findings to psychological practice. The journal is free of bias regarding the methodological, epistemological or theoretical position of the authors.

This is an open access journal which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of open access.

The Journal offers the opportunity to publish in a variety for formats: traditional original research employing empirical (both qualitative, quantitative or mixed methodologies), and literature review approaches. In addition the journal welcomes short reports, practice and impact notes and policy reviews.

A unique feature of the journal is the special attention paid to Masters (MRes, MPhil, MScR, MA, MSc, MEd) students as each issue aims to include at least one submission from this group.

In addition, we welcome studies that are direct replications of previous studies where a clear scientific argument for such replication can be made.

Submissions which represent collaborations between established academics and practitioners are also encouraged.

Peer Review Process

The journal operates a blind peer review policy. Each manuscript received, if of appropriate quality, will be submitted to two external peer reviewers. Should a clear disparity in opinion result a third reviewer may be sought.

Publication Frequency

Two issues of APRJ will be published each year. Immediate open access publishing will be adopted through which articles will be added to the 'current' volume's table of contents as and when received. Issue 1 will be have a publication date of January, and Issue 2 will have a publication date of June in each year. More issues may be added, as the popularity of the journal increases.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Journal History
