Author Biography

Lindy McAllister, University of Sydney

Lindy McAllister is Professor Emerita in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Sydney, where she was formerly head of of Work Integrated Learning (WIL). She is a leader in innovation in placements, education for practice, and research and scholarship in clinical education, clinical supervision and WIL. Lindy is a speech pathologist with a PhD in clinical education and supervision. She has worked across the health professions in various leadership and capacity building roles in Australia and internationally. She has served as Deputy Director of a university-wide institute focussed on building staff capacity to deliver innovative, high quality practice-based education. She has also served as Deputy Head (Teaching and Learning) of a large Australian university Medical School. Her current research activities include: models of student placements, education and support of placement supervisors, work readiness of new allied health graduates, student-led services, internationalisation of allied health curricula, measuring the quality of placements, impact of students on placement supervisor time use and productivity.
